A study to evaluate the efficacy of instillation of ropivacaine with fentanyl, dexmedetomidine, or morphine through surgical drain for post-operative analgesia in patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy

Background: Local anesthetics have become vital part of multimodal analgesia approach. Instillation local through surgical drain is easier and safer method than conventional nerve blocks. Various anesthetic drugs adjuvants been used for post-operative pain management drains. Aims Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy instillation ropivacaine with fentanyl, dexmedetomidine or morphine patient satisfaction in patients undergoing modified radical mastectomy. Materials Methods: A prospective, randomized, double-blind dividing 75 female aged 30–70 years who underwent mastectomy into three groups: Group (RM) received 40 ml 0.25% 4.5 mg morphine, group (RD) 1 mg/kg (RF) 50 microgram instilled Results: Visual analog score at rest movement significantly lower RM as compared RD RF no significant difference among different time intervals postoperatively. Patient 24-h postoperatively better (P=0.01) RF. Conclusion: provides good relief, prolonged duration analgesia, period fentanyl.
